Casa Vera is a bed and breakfast (or "casa particular") owned by Caridad Vera and Elio Rodriguez Peréz in the centrally located neighborhood of El Vedado in Ciudad de la Habana, Cuba.
Before retiring, Caridad Vera worked as a professional translator specializing in Russian and Italian. She also speaks English fluently and some Finnish.
This bed and breakfast has two bedrooms with comfortable queen size beds each and one shared bathroom for guests. One of the bedrooms has an additional twin bed to accomodate a third person. Both rooms have air conditioning, fridge, and their own lock for security.
The house is very safe, clean, quiet and has been fitted to modern standards but retains its original charm. Guests may use the telephone, TV, video and enjoy the hot water.
Caridad and Elio are excellent cooks and will prepare lunch and dinner on demand for a reasonable price. A full breakfast with a selection of bread, butter, jams, eggs, fruit, coffee, tea and juice costs 5 C.U.C.
Caridad and Elio are also known for their hospitality and enjoy talking to their guests about the beauty of Havana and other places in Cuba. They are very friendly, intellectually stimulating and accomodating.
Casa Vera is located in El Vedado, a neighborhood built in the late 19th Century. El Vedado is known as Havana's showpiece neighborhood for its wide leafy boulevards.
The house is located about two blocks from the historic Cemetery of Colón, considered a historic landmark. Calle 23, the main avenue of the neighborhood, is only one block away. The intersection of Calle 23 and Calle 12, one of the vibrating centers of El Vedado with its cafeterias, shops and cinema, is a 3-5 minute walk from the house.
The Malecón, Havana's famous seaside promenade, is a few blocks away down the street, about a 8 minute walk.
The bus stops for buses P-4 and 222 are located next to the intersection of Calle 23 and Calle 12 and will take you to La Rampa (where the emblematic Coppelia ice cream shop and Habana Libre Hotel are located) and La Habana Vieja.
Hailing a taxi in Calle 23 is quite easy and convenient.
Rooms are 30 C.U.C per night.
Breakfast is 5 C.U.C. Casa Vera offers a selection of bread, butter, jams, eggs, fruit, coffee, tea and juice.
Lunch and dinner can be cooked on demand for a very reasonable price. Caridad and Elio are excellent cooks.

Casa Vera is located in number 308 (altos) of Calle 18, between Calle 19 and Calle 21, Vedado. (Please note that at this junction Calle 21 and Calle 23 merge because of the position of the cemetery).
